The video installation Negro y Luz, for which its author was awarded the Leonardo Grant, comprises an essay film, with audio and moving images, and a photographic series. All the material was put together in the Museo del Prado, whose works and galleries the artist was able to visit by night, during the museum’s closing hours. With this installation, Perdices wishes to draw attention to the fragments of artworks that stand out amid the blackness. In the absence of the light that orders the museum’s day to day world, the paintings themselves become light.
The second video installation, created by Álvaro Perdices and the film-maker Andrés Sanz, is titled Jardín infinito. A propósito del Bosco and takes as its starting point Hieronymus Bosch’s The Garden of Earthly Delights. This installation allows the spectator to approach and experience the celebrated triptych from a sensory, perceptual setting in which he or she wanders through the scenes of paradise, the garden of delights and hell, sharing them with a multitude of creatures and fellow beings.
